Coursework grades
A coursework grade tracker for assignment-based courses
Coursework courses are graded over months, not in one exam. My Register is a free coursework grade tracker that keeps every assignment, attempt and predicted grade per student — whether your course uses criteria like Pass/Merit/Distinction or percentages and A–C grades.
Everything a coursework tracker needs
Two grading modes
Choose criteria-based grading (Pass/Merit/Distinction) or percentage and A–C grading per class — whatever your course actually uses.
Assignments within units
Organise the course into units and the units into assignments, mirroring your scheme of work so the tracker reads like your course.
Resubmission history
Second attempts are recorded alongside the first, with capping where your rules require it — improvement is visible, not overwritten.
Predicted grades
Keep a live predicted grade per student per unit so reports and reviews always have a current judgement to work from.
Per-student grade view
Open any student to see every unit and assignment grade on one screen, with the comments and context attached.
Live share links
Share an individual’s grades or a whole class overview as a read-only live link with colleges, parents or managers.
Why spreadsheets struggle with coursework
A coursework grade is not one number — it is a sequence. First attempt, feedback, resubmission, capped grade, predicted outcome. Spreadsheets can hold the numbers but not the story, and by spring term most coursework spreadsheets are a tangle of overwritten cells.
A dedicated tracker keeps the sequence. Every attempt is a separate record, so the grade you report is current while the history of how the student got there is preserved.
Match your grading model
Vocational courses usually grade against criteria; other courses use percentages or letter grades. My Register supports both — set per class — so one tool covers a tutor’s mixed timetable.
Switching mode never changes the layout: students, units and assignments stay the same; only the grade scale differs.
Grades in context
A grade without attendance and engagement is half the story. Because My Register also handles registers, RAG reviews and behaviour records, every grade sits next to the context that explains it.
When a college asks why a predicted grade moved, you can show the attendance dip and the review comments alongside the marks — all from the same student profile.
Frequently asked questions
Can I mix percentage grading and Pass/Merit/Distinction in one account?
Yes. Grading mode is set per class, so a coursework class can use P/M/D criteria while another class uses percentages or A–C grades.
How do resubmissions work?
Resubmissions are recorded as new attempts. The original grade stays on record, and capping is applied where your course rules require it, so reports show both the journey and the final outcome.
Can I share grades without giving full access?
Yes. Live share links are read-only and limited to exactly the grades you chose to share. Collaborating tutors can be given separate, controlled access to mark and manage grades.
